Frequently asked questions

Is my document uploaded anywhere?

No. Conversion happens entirely in your browser — the file is never sent to a server.

Will the PDF look exactly like the Word document?

For simple documents (paragraphs, headings, bold/italic, basic lists and tables, images) it'll look close. It won't be pixel-perfect: headers/footers, tracked changes, footnotes, exact fonts, and complex layouts (multi-column text, floating text boxes, embedded charts) aren't reproduced. Page breaks are placed automatically based on rendered content height, so a paragraph or line can occasionally split across two pages rather than flowing exactly the way Word would paginate it.

Will the text in the PDF be selectable?

No. Each page is rendered as an image, so the output PDF's text isn't selectable or searchable — the same tradeoff as this site's Compress PDF tool. Doing this without rasterizing would require a full document-layout engine, which isn't realistic to run client-side.

What file types are supported?

Only .docx (the modern Word format). The older binary .doc format isn't supported — save your file as .docx first if needed.
