UPSC Photo & Signature Resizer

Last updated:

Resize your photo and signature for a UPSC application — defaults to a 350×350px square photo and a 400×170px signature scan, and every field is editable if a specific UPSC exam's notification asks for a different size within its allowed range.

How to use the UPSC Photo & Signature Resizer

  1. Choose Photo or Signature — the width, height, DPI, and max size fields fill in with this tool's default values.
  2. Adjust any of those values if you need a size closer to the range UPSC allows (roughly 350–1000px square for the photo).
  3. Upload your image file — for the signature, scan all three required signatures as a single image first.
  4. The tool automatically crops or pads, resizes, and compresses it under your size limit, then click Download.

Frequently asked questions

What is the UPSC photo size in pixels?

UPSC accepts a range rather than one fixed size — roughly 350×350 up to 1000×1000 pixels, square, on a plain white background. This tool defaults to 350×350 (the smaller end of that range) so the file size stays manageable; you can increase it if you'd rather submit a higher-resolution photo.

Why does UPSC ask for three signatures in one image?

UPSC's application asks candidates to sign three times, one below the other, on plain white paper in black ink, then scan all three as a single image — it's a way of checking signature consistency. Sign in your normal running handwriting; block or printed capital letters are rejected.

Is my photo or signature uploaded to a server?

No. All resizing, cropping, and compression happens locally in your browser using the Canvas API — nothing is uploaded, transmitted, or stored anywhere.

Does this guarantee my UPSC application will be accepted?

No. This tool matches the technical spec as accurately as available guidance allows, but can't verify composition rules or guarantee these exact numbers match the current notification for the specific UPSC exam (Civil Services, or any of UPSC's other exams) you're applying to. Always check the current official instructions before submitting.

What if my photo is rejected for being too old or edited?

UPSC (like most Indian exam bodies) expects a recent, unedited photograph — heavily filtered, retouched, or outdated photos are a common rejection reason independent of pixel size. This tool only handles the technical crop/resize/compress step, not those composition rules.
