Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
No. Cropping, background removal, and the final image/PDF are all produced locally in your browser — your photo is never uploaded. Background removal does download a small AI model (a few MB, one-time, from Google's public TensorFlow Hub) the first time you use it — that's a model file, not your photo, which never leaves your device.
How accurate is the background removal?
It uses an on-device machine-learning model built for portrait/selfie segmentation, so it works best on a single clear, front-facing subject — the typical passport photo scenario. Busy backgrounds, multiple people, or unusual poses may need manual retouching afterward in another tool.
Which passport sizes are supported?
2×2 inch (used for US, India, and many other countries), 35×45mm (UK, Schengen/EU), 50×70mm (Canada, Australia), and 20×25mm for smaller ID-style photos. Requirements vary by country and can change — always confirm your destination's exact current requirement before submitting.
What does the A4 sheet option do?
It tiles as many copies of your finished photo as fit on one A4 page, with a small gap and optional dashed cut lines between them — the standard way photo studios print passport photos for cutting apart.
Does the border change the photo's final size?
No — the border is drawn inside the photo's edges, so the exported dimensions still exactly match the passport size you chose.
Will the printed photo actually come out the right physical size?
The A4 sheet is always exact — each photo is placed at its precise real-world size in millimeters directly in the PDF, so it prints correctly regardless of the image's pixel resolution. The single-photo download is generated at 300 DPI with that resolution embedded in the file, so software that reads it will size it correctly too — but when printing, make sure your print dialog is set to print at 100% / actual size rather than "fit to page," which can override the embedded size and print it too big or small.
Is there a beautify or skin-smoothing option?
No, intentionally. Most passport and ID photo rules explicitly prohibit retouching your face — smoothing skin, removing blemishes, or otherwise altering your appearance can get an application rejected. "Auto-Enhance Lighting" only corrects brightness, contrast, and color balance (the kind of correction a proper photo booth applies automatically) — it never touches facial features.
What is the passport photo size in India in pixels?
For the standard 2×2 inch format, this tool exports 600×600 pixels at 300 DPI — the pixel count that gives you an exact 2×2 inch print at that resolution. If a specific portal (like passport seva or a visa center) asks for a different pixel size directly, use the size it specifies rather than assuming 600×600 is universal.
What background color do passport photos need?
Plain white is the most commonly required background for Indian and US passport photos; some other countries or visa types allow light grey or light blue. Use "Remove Background" and pick white unless you know your destination requires a different color, and check the current official guidance either way — background rules are one of the most common reasons photos get rejected.
Can I use a photo taken with my phone, or do I need a studio photo?
A phone photo works fine as long as it's a clear, well-lit, front-facing shot with a plain background (or one you remove here) and no filters or angles. Make sure there's enough resolution to crop into — a photo that's too small or heavily compressed before you start will look soft once cropped and resized to the final passport dimensions.
