Is my photo or signature uploaded to a server?
No. All resizing, cropping, and compression happens locally in your browser using the Canvas API — your photo and signature are never uploaded, transmitted, or stored anywhere.
What happens if my uploaded image doesn't match the target aspect ratio?
For the photo, the image is centered and cropped to fill the exact 213×213 square so there's no distortion or white bars around your face. For the signature, the image is scaled to fit within the 400×200 box and padded with white space so no part of your signature is cut off.
Does this guarantee my PAN application will be accepted?
This tool matches the technical spec — exact pixel dimensions, DPI, and file size. It can't control composition rules like background color, lighting, or whether your face is fully visible, which are still your responsibility. Always double-check against the current official UTIITSL guidelines before submitting.
Why would I change the default size?
Most applicants should keep the defaults. But some other forms or portals ask for slightly different dimensions, DPI, or a different size cap — the fields are editable so you can reuse this tool for those cases without needing a separate calculator.
Why does the file size limit matter so much?
UTIITSL rejects uploads that exceed its maximum KB limit. This tool automatically searches for the highest JPEG quality that still fits under the limit, so your image looks as sharp as possible while staying within your chosen size.
